Girls Allowed

The age group 11-18 represents a critical stage in development to maturity. This is the time when a young person starts to challenge many core beliefs and form their identity. Equally, peer pressure and peer group 'think' become more important. It is vital that young teenagers learn how to handle emotional and spiritual responsibility, on their journey to becoming wholesome adults. At St Mary's we take this stage very seriously. We provide a safe place for our young people to explore faith, to express their tensions and anxieties, to be shaped, and above all to exercise and practice taking responsibility for themselves and others.

Our aim is to nurture a strong group of young people who will play a full role in the life of the church, taking responsibility to lead mission to their peers, in the power of the Holy Spirit. Thus we place emphasis on equipping and discipling our young people to:

  • develop a strong relationship with God and each other through fun socials, Christian camps, mission trips and engagement in social justice
  • to wait and listen for God;
  • to be able to give an explanation for their faith
  • to have the character to match
The young people are encouraged to take every opportunity to exercise leadership in the group by leading prayer, worship, teaching, service, mission and social action.

The group meets on a Sunday at the 11am service in Room 1 on the lower floor of St Mary's.

Our young people will become well-balanced, rounded individuals who are happy and ready to lead and serve.
