Engage
 Prophecy
Recent talks by Barry Kissell

It has always been God’s intention that we would be a prophetic people. Moses said ‘I wish that all the Lord’s people were prophets and that the Lord would put his Spirit on them’. Joel the prophet saw the days when young people would prophesy; young men see visions and old men dream dreams. In this progression of maturity God envisaged that every believer would hear his voice and be able to speak to others what he had both seen and heard. Jesus affirmed this when he said that, as sheep know the shepherd’s voice, so his followers would know his voice.

At St Mary’s hearing the voice of God and seeking to obey it is one of our major values. To facilitate this we regularly hold a course that seeks to teach the various ways in which God speaks.  Click here to read a review of the course.

It is envisaged that those who are developing their prophetic gifting will also attend Open Heaven and other occasions where further teaching is given on such subjects as The Prophet's Healing, Speaking into People’s Lives, The Nature of the Prophetic Word, Visions and Dreams, The Prophet as the Healer, and God is Speaking.

Opportunity is given at every service for those to speak who sense they have a prophetic word for the congregation.

The basis for the teaching and practice of prophecy at St Mary’s is the book ‘The Prophet's Notebook’, which is recommended reading, and was written by our very own Barry Kissell.
