Treasurehunting is a way of taking God's love in a practical way to the streets of London and it's a lot of fun!
Inspired by Kevin Dedmon's book 'The Ultimate Treasurehunt', groups of us meet somewhere in central London, pray that God would give us 'clues' as to specific people he wants to show his love to that day, then go out and find them! We've been doing it for a year now, and had so many amazing encounters, healings, great stories.
Anyone is welcome to join us, if you're a first-timer we'll make sure we team you up with someone experienced, and even if you just want to come along and observe to start with, that's fine.
Some highlights of the last treasure hunt:
- We had the clue "job security" and found a man wearing "blue jeans" on a "mobile phone" who worked for a "mobile phone" company, but had just been told his job was likely to be made redundant. We prayed with him for his job situation.
- We had the clues "hearts and diamonds" and "by the escalator" we found Shareefa, who had a heart necklace, heart bracelet and was wearing a lot of diamonds. She asked for prayer that she might find a husband in 2011.
- We had the clues "bald man", "starbucks" and "by a pillar" and downstairs in the main atrium by one of the large pillars we found a bald man who was holding a starbucks cup. He asked us to pray with him for his health as told us he is one of only 74 people in the UK who suffers from Multi-Focal Motor Neuropathy, which is a condition where the muscles in the body become progressively weaker over months to years. He is a dancer and fitness instructor and is finding it harder and harder to keep going. He was going for more tests the following week. We prayed for healing for him.
The next treasure hunt will be this Sunday (29th January) in Kings Cross. We're meeting 1.45pm outside W H Smiths in Kings Cross Overground Station. We'll go through the basics of treasure hunting for the first 15 minutes, so please do bring anyone along who'd like to try treasure hunting for the first time.
Treasure hunts are also still going on in Shepherds Bush, the plan for 2012 is to venture out of Westfield and onto the surrounding streets... please email if you'd like to join one - we tend to go out on Saturday afternoons.
