Maggie works for Tearfund in the HIV department, and has been seconded for three months to Tearfund’s Disaster Management Team in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), as a Grants and Information Coordinator – which basically means helping the programme staff to pull together effective reports, Needs Assessments, Proposals and concept notes for international Institutional Donor funding, to get the money needed for the work on the ground, as well as ensuring Beneficiary Accountability in our programmes. Maggie is based in South Kivu province, in the North East of DRC, but will be traveling between the Tearfund bases in Tearfund is working with displaced people, refugees returning from Tanzania, and local communities. Tearfund's programmes focus on building community resilience and helping people resettle, by building schools, etc. Maggie is currently mainly working on Food Security (agriculture, seed distribution, etc) and Water and Sanitation (digging wells, building latrines, hygiene and public health education).
